One thing that has now become general public knowledge is the main step that the National Youth Service Corps is taking towards ensuring that schools are discouraged from aiding and abetting fraudulent mobilization of corps members for national service. The main step that the NYSC has taken towards this effect is the introduction of indemnity that requires the head of higher institutions to endorse whatever data are forwarded to the NYSC.

The good thing about this step is that when the heads of higher institutions endorse whatever data that their various institutions present to the NYSC, the NYSC will be able to sanction schools that are found guilty of aiding and abetting fraudulent mobilization of corps members for national service. As long as the head of higher institutions endorse the data that are sent to the NYSC, such heads of higher institutions and the institutions that are found guilty of committing such an offense will be held responsible for committing the offense and sanctions will follow.

The genus of the NYSC to introduce such a progressive way of handling fraudulent activities in the mobilization of students for national service by higher institutions has led to some schools being blacklisted by the NYSC. Had it not been for the introduction of the indemnity that requires the head of higher institutions to endorse whatever data are forwarded to the NYSC, it would have been easy for heads of higher institutions to come up with excuses whenever such fraudulent activity is discovered by the NYSC.
