Muhammad Bello, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has declared that any act of violence before or after the election will not be tolerated. The attention of the national and international community, he claims, is focused on the election.
He claimed that he had issued a severe command to security services to punish harshly anyone who instigates unrest during and after the election.
Anthony Ogunleye, his Chief Press Secretary, said these things in a statement on Thursday.
“FCT regional council election: Minister appeals for active and peaceful involvement of citizens,” read the statement.
“He reminded would-be troublemakers that security agencies are under tight orders to bring the full force of the law to bear on wayward individuals or groups who may attempt to disrupt the peace in whatever form,” it said in part.
” As a result, he urged parents, traditional, community, and religious leaders to warn their wards, subjects, and congregation members against engaging in acts that could disrupt the elections’ peaceful conduct.”
” Bello also reminded citizens that the elections for the FCT Area Council are attracting national and international attention.
“As a result, the electorate in the FCT bears the responsibility of ensuring that the elections are conducted peacefully and transparently.”
He, on the other hand, urged citizens and candidates to utilize the election to show that all Nigerians are united, regardless of ethnic, religious, or political connections.
