It is an undeniable fact that many political parties across the world, since time immemorial are very much noted for being at each other’s throat every now and then. Although political parties are vital instruments when it comes to the practice of modern day representative democracy, internal party feuds have become one of the commonest features that is exhibited by such political parties and Ghana is definitely not an exemption when it comes to this. The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have dominated Ghana’s political scene since the return to multi-party democracy in 1992 and are both guilty of such internal party feuds (taking swipes at each other every now and then ).
These crises I must say, have contributed to the unhealthy internal relations and by extension have affected their effective functioning and inter-party relations. In a recent post on twitter, both parties, NDC and NPP were as usual seen taking swipes at each other again after a post made by the deputy National Youth Organiser of the opposition NDC, Eric Edem Agbana. The party’s manifesto spokesperson on Youth Development and co-founder of the United Volunteers Network, an that is working to make quality education accessible to rural children in Ghana, took to his twitter page and wrote :
” The disappointed NPP folks are so ashamed of this mess of a government but they keep shouting, “Both NDC & NPP are the same”.. Dude, wake up.. we are not the same … helloooo”.
This post obviously did not go down well with some members of The New Patriotic Party as some have descended heavily on him with a number soul searching questions.
