You have failed woefully and should have resigned by now: Mahama’s aide tells Ken Ofori-Atta

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a former aide to the former President, John Dramani Mahama has said the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has woefully failed and should have resigned from his post. She noted that, if it was in any advanced country, he would have stepped down giving as abysmal he has discharged his duties.

Ken Ofori-Atta, has said in the Town Hall Meetings organized by the Ministry of Information aimed at convincing Ghanaians to buy into the controversial E-levy that, Ghanaians should take matters of national development into their hands by accepting the E-levy. Ken Ofori-Atta also contends that the E-levy is the most efficient way to close the revenue gap in the national budget while helping fund other government projects such as infrastructure development and creating employment for the youth.

But speaking on the TV3 NewDay Show, lawyer Joyce Bawah Mogtari opined that the Finance Minister does not have the moral high ground to beg Ghanaians to pay the E-levy given how poorly he has performed. She requested Ken Ofori-Atta to account for all the monies he has received. She further alleged that Ken Ofori-Atta has been the biggest beneficiary of the loans the country has contracted during his tenure as the Minister of Finance since his has mostly been the consultant for the government when contracting a load for the country.

“He has failed woefully and should have resigned by now. Anywhere in this world, this Financial Minister would be history, nobody will be talking about him. He wouldn’t have the confidence to go around and tell us this sort of crap. Please account for all the monies you have received. For all the bonds ( that Ghana has issued) we know who the biggest beneficiaries are; the Finance Minister’s , they were mostly the ones that were consulting, most of the transactions went to them”, he said.
