The brouhaha over the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-levy) is still ongoing. The president has broken silence and has enlightened Ghanaians on the need for the E-levy to be passed.
The whole E-levy brouhaha started last year after the Finance Minister presented the 2022 budget and proposed a new bill that seeks to tax mobile money transactions. Many Ghanaians kicked against the new levy considering the hardship it will put the ordinary people in. The government however say this will not be the case.
This morning Johnny if TV3 had revealed the negative effects on Ghanaians if the e-levy is rejected.
Johnny revealed that, if the e-levy is rejected government will not get money to pay to pay salaries.
According to him, the covid pandemic has made the government lost money so it need the e-levy to fill in the holes.
“There will be no salaries for government workers if the e-levy is rejected” Johnny wrote.
Let all help accept the e-levy because for a country to develop it needs taxes, we can’t reject tax and expect to have a better better country.
