NDC Communications Officer Storms NPP E- levy Town Hall Meeting With Question For Ken Ofori Atta

Today, the government organized its second Town Hall meeting at the Sekondi Youth Centre. Some of the speakers at the programme were Andrew Egyapa Mercer, MP for Sekondi, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, Western Regional Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta. The speakers charged Ghanaians to disregard the negative propaganda being peddled by some personalities in other political parties.

They listed a number of government policies and how government has judiciously spent resources to develop the country. During the question and answers time the NDC Communications Officer in the Western region rose up to ask a question. This got Fatima Abubakr, the Deputy Information Minister applauding the NDC representative for joining the meeting and expressing his opinion. She even called on the crowd to applaud Kirk Mensah for the question.

The question was that Ghana’s intended revenue even with the addition of the e-levy will still not cover for the government’s expenditure. Kirk called on the government to thus be truthful and tell Ghanaians to rather help the government pay for the deficit and not say e-levy monies will go into constructing roads and creating jobs.

In response Ken Ofori Atta agreed there is a deficit. He also agreed that some of the monies will go into solving the expenditure expenses. He was quick to add that with the growing nature of mobile transactions this is the simple way for all Ghanaians to pay a quota to help develop the country.
