Chiefs ‘Signs’ Their 5 Players To Bumper Deals

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have seemingly not let the disappointment of failing to make any key additions during the January transfer window market deter their future plans, this after the club’s announcement that they have secured the futures of their 5 players to new bumper deals.

Chiefs were linked with a myriad of PSL players, AmaZulu FC’s Siyethemba Sithebe, SuperSport United’s Sipho Mbule, and Royal AM’s Victor Letsoalo, among others.

However, none of those prospective moves came to fruition, and the Naturena-based club moved with automatic alacrity to resolve the contracts of some of its players whose contracts had been a subject of speculation.

And what a time to announce the contract extensions: the club, which is well-known for its public relations expertise, took to micro-blogging Twitter to confirm that they had agreed to contract extensions with five players.

Nkosingiphile “Mshini” Ngcobo

The club confirmed that they have managed to persuade in-demand attacking midfielder to a contract until June 2024.

Since making his senior Chiefs’ debut in 2017, Ngcobo has been an integral cog in the team’s attacking department.

Happy Mashiane

The Tembisa-born left-back come winger one of the revelations last season, and despite his red card in the Caf Champions League final, Amakhosi seem to see a lot of potential in him hence they have tied him for another three and a half years, until June 2025.

Bruce Bvuma

The goalkeeper, regarded as veteran shotstopper Itumeleng Khune’s successor has come out of age in recent season, and albeit he has struggled to make the number 1 jersey as his own, Chiefs have ensured he stays put atleast until 2024.

Sabelo “Bibo” Radebe

When he came onto the scene at the start of last season, many people were supremely confident that he has all the qualities to become a great Chiefs player, and his off the field temperament which has seen him acquire a diploma has helped him a great deal in the club showing trust.

He will remain at Naturena through June 2026.

Reeve Frosler

Described by the Amakhosi faithful as the ‘Jack of all Trades’ due to his adeptness to operate in a myriad of positions.

Frosler had been linked with a move away from Naturena in recent weeks, as his deal at the club was meant to end in June 30.

However, despite the fact he has struggled for gametime under head coach Stuart Baxter, Chiefs saw it worthwhile to extend his contract for another three and a half years, until June 2025.

What do you make of Chiefs’ decision to tie the 5 players to new deals? Do you think the club is perhaps trying to give the fans something to cheer about after failing to make any significant signing during the January transfer window market?
