On social media, there are rumors of former Head of State Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida’s “death” (IBB).

The retired General, who was born in Niger, died over the weekend, according to reports.

PRNigeria announced Sunday night, citing a source, that IBB is “alive and well.”

Despite certain health restrictions, the former Nigerian leader is doing well, according to an insider.

“Gen. Babangida met with several friends and politicians who came to his Hill Top mansion this afternoon for a sort of discussion and political consultations,” the source said.

IBB, who is 80 years old, recently hosted former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu at his Minna home.

The trip, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, was to discuss Niger’s security concerns as well as his presidential ambitions.

“I can’t make a courteous call to the mystery, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, retired,” says the visitor.

“He entrusted me with his prayers.” Do you want to hear how the consultation went? Tinubu told reporters, “We are operating a democracy.”

Unhappy with the outcome of the APC’s gubernatorial primary election in Ekiti State last week, a governorship hopeful, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele has threatened to challenge the validity of the party’s results in the January 27 primary in court.

The alleged abrasion of democracy and brazen abridgment of the Electoral Act in the election, according to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, would be subjected to legal scrutiny through the party’s constitution and the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
