The Benin Kingdom is undoubtedly one of the oldest and strongest kingdoms in Africa, having been believed to have been created in the 11th century.
The Igodomigodos, who later changed their name to the Benins, believed that they originated from Egypt but migrated southward in search of a peaceful land, which made them spread throughout southern Nigeria. However, these are the 3 tribes that have successfully traced their origins to them.

Ogba people.
The Ogba people are a sovereign tribe who live primarily in Rivers State and a few other states in the south-south region of Nigeria, some popular states like Lagos, Abuja, and so on, with a population of close to 500 thousand people.
Despite the fact that these people speak a language that is somehow close to the Igbos, they trace their origins to Alakala, who was claimed to have migrated from the Benin Kingdom due to the war that erupted.
In which Alakala and his followers migrated eastward, and in which they trekked around the bush for days before finally settling down in River State.

Isoko people:
The Isoko tribe, who live primarily in Delta, Bayelsa, and parts of Anambra in Nigeria’s south-east, are estimated to number over 2 million people, the majority of whom are Christians.
The majority of Isoko people believe that their ancestors left the ancient Benin Kingdom, such as Iyede, Emede, Owhe, Emevo, Aviara, Okpe-Ozoro, and Uzere), for a tangible reason, while a small minority claim to be Igbo.

Ikwerre people:
Like the Ogba, the Ikwerre people of River State speak a language that is closely related to that of the Igbos, but this does not prevent them from claiming the Ancient Benin Kingdom as their ancestral home.
According to the mainly Christian Ikwerre, who number more than 1 million people, they believe their ancestor, Akalaka, migrated from Benin to escape war and came down to their current location.
