Since the video of a uniformed police officer washing Davido’s newly bought Rolls Royce Cullina went viral, social media has gone agog with many Nigerians lampooning the officer for lowering the standard of the Nigeria Police Force.
The video was shared on Instagram by the popular hip hop star on Thursday which caught the attention of some major news platforms and other notable individuals.
While some people who reacted to the development did not see anything really wrong with the development aside the fact that the officer did it while on uniform, others simply attributed the moves to the juicy reward attached to washing someone like Davido’s car.
However, there are two things that need to be considered before coming up with a meaningful argument on the matter.
The first thing is the nature of contract between Davido and the officer. At least, if there is something one can be attributed to Davido, it is that of his tendency to show off. He is a super star musician with a penchant for showing off.
To prove a point, Davido could have contracted the officer to wash his car while on uniform and this will send a serious message to the Force to inculcate more discipline to his men and renumerate them appropriately.
For the officer, the implication of what he did could be outright dismissal from the force but Davido has what it takes to make him a multimillionaire that can never happen if he has spent all his life in the police Force.
Secondly, if the officer had done it for money, he should be considered as a wise man. Presently, the economic situation of the country has pushed many Nigerians to lower their standards so as to meet a teething finance demand.
As long as you did not steal or commit an illegality, whatever you do to make money is strictly your choice.
Anyone who is opportuned to wash either Davido’s car or clothes is a lucky person considering the juicy reward attached to it.
Hence this officer’s case can never be an exemption as he is also a Nigerian that is experiencing the same economic hardship presently confronting everyone.
These are two things to be considered before criticizing the officer for washing Davido’s Rolls Royce.
