Working six or seven hours a day as president of Africa’s most populous nations is an insufferable job, says President Muhammadu Buhari, wishing he “will be less busy.”

Mr Buhari was born on December 17, 1942.

“The age is telling on me. Working now for six, seven to eight hours per day in the office is no joke. There are questions of (the) executive council; memos from as many states as possible to be considered virtually every week,” lamented the Nigerian president. “Really, it’s a lot of hard work.”

However, the 79-year-old added, “As I’ve said, I asked for it, and I cannot complain.”

He disclosed that on his wishlist is the need to indulge himself in lazing around.

The United States has warned Nigeria that the use of the Super Tucano must comply with international norms as articulated in the United Nations Charter.

The US gave the warning on Thursday as the Nigerian military was set to deploy the Super Tucano aircraft in the North-West and North-Central after the Federal Government officially designated bandits in the regions as terrorists,

But the US while advising Nigeria said the Federal Government should not deploy the aircraft in operations that encroach on traditional law enforcement role which is under police authority.

Gunmen on Thursday attacked the Ideato South Police Division in Imo with explosive devices and freed suspects detained at the station.

The explosive destroyed the administrative office of the division, the office of the Divisional Police Officer, as well as the administrative desk.

But the Imo Police command, in a swift reaction, said the tactical team of the command repelled the attack and forced the gunmen to scamper into the bush.

The command’s spokesman, Mike Abattam (CSP), said in a press statement that no lives were lost, while the explosives caused minimal damage.
