Coach Chris Hughton is set to earn $120,000 as Black Stars head coach according to reports in the local media. The former Newcastle United manager is reported to be in a pole position to replace Milovan Rajevac as head coach of the Senior National team. Reports indicate that, discussions have been held between Chris Hughton and some government officials and he will be earning that figure on monthly basis.Â
Government of Ghana considers Chris Hughton as the ideal candidate to steer affairs of the Senior National team. Reports have explained roles being played by some influential figures in power to get him appointed as soon as possible. The former Nottingham Forest manager has reportedly held talks with some players who do not want to play for the Black Stars of Ghana. Chris Hughton of Ghanaian heritage through his father is reportedly in a comfortable lead to be named as the new head coach for Black Stars of Ghana because of government’s backing. Majority leader in Parliament, Kyei Mensah Bonsu, endorses Chris Hughton as the best person for the vacant position.Â
“Chris Hughton is a coach who knows how to build with average materials and that’s Ghana’s situation now. Our materials are not good so we need Chris to weld. Otto Addo is just a second coach for Dortmund,” he told Angel FM.Â
Herve Renard was linked with the vacant position following the exit of Milovan Rajevac. He was reported to be interested in the job and could have been assisted by Ibrahim Tanko, who had a stint as assistant coach with Cameroon.Â
While the dust is yet to settle, Ghana Football Association officials are reportedly to be interested in naming Otto Addo as the next in command, after parting ways with Milovan Rajevac. Some football association officials have held talks with Otto Addo as the favorite for the job. Assurances will be given to the assistant coach Dortmund in relation to the National team job. Otto Addo will then be allowed to consider and ponder over proposals presented by the football governing body.
