Today, 1st February 2022, the Majority leader who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the Suame constituency, Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, boldly declared on the floor of Parliament, one of the reasons why he, together with his colleagues in the majority caucus is still insisting on the passage of the electronic levy bill. Whiles reacting to a statement from the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, that the minority will make sure that the e-levy is rejected, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu explained that, unlike the minority caucus who stands for the public, the majority caucus stands for the republic.
He added that the minority are rejecting the e-levy because they want to see the economy collapse. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu stated that he will not allow that but he will support the republic so that the economy is revitalized once the e-levy is passed.
“We stand with the republic to ensure the revitalization of the economy. The people want to see the collapse of the economy, so be for them”, he explained
