Kojo Asare, a 40 years old man has been arrested and remanded in prison for 5 months after assaulting a 23 years old woman in bed in Nyatase near Ejisu. After sleeping with the woman, Kojo also threatened to kill her if she tells anyone about it.
The presiding judge at the Ejisu district court, His lordship Samuel Djane Kotey gave Kojo a 5 months prison remand and will appear before the court again in June for his final verdict. The 5 months period is to help the police do a thorough investigation into the matter. Kojo was in uncontrollable tears when the judge declared his verdict in court.
Kojo Asare is a tailor and the 23 years old lady who defiled Abrefi Owusuaa is his apprentice. Master Asare as he is affectionately called gave his apprentices a break period on January 9 and asked them to resume on January 15. He later changed the date they were to resume to January 18. Unfortunately, Owusuaa did not receive the information of the change of date so she reported back to work on January 15.
When she got there and found the shop closed, he went to her Master’s house to find the reason why. Master Asare apologized for not communicating the new date to her and asked her to prepare him some pepper soup. While in the kitchen preparing soup, Master Asare forced himself of Owusua and slept with her.
He later threatened to kill her if she revealed what happened between them to anyone. Owusuaa could not control her emotions as she cried much when she went home. Her mother forced her to reveal what was wrong with her and they reported the case to the Police.
Master Asare was arrested the following and was in police custody for a week before being taken to court. Master Asare will be taken to Kumasi Central Prison for a 5 months remand. The Police added attempted murder to Asare’s case and therefore needed time to do further investigations.
