The Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has named who should be the next Black Stars coach. He was speaking to the various rumors of who succeeds Milovan Rajevac as the next Black Stars coach since the Serbian was sacked after an abysmal performance at the AFCON 2021.
After Black Stars’ abysmal performance at the 2021 African Cup of Nations Tournament in Cameroon, the coach who was in charge of the team, Milovan Rajecac was sacked from his position, and since then has not been replaced.
A lot of names have popped up to be the suitable replacement for Milovan as Black Stars Coach. Among them are Ghanaian Otoo Addo, who is currently an assistant coach of Dortmund in Germany, Ibrahim Tanko who is also a local Black Stars Coach as well as Chris Hughton, who has coached Brighton and Holves Albion in England and other top teams in England.
Reports say that the Ghana Football Association who is the appointing authority for the Black Stars prefers to appoint either Ibrahim Tanko or Otoo Addo. Meanwhile, the government, who is also the paymasters of the black stars would want Chris Hughton to be the next Black Stars Coach.
However, today, when Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu was speaking on a local radio station in Kumasi today, Angel 96.1fm, he admitted that Chris Hughton will be the best fit for the Black Stars coaching job and he would have preferred him to lead the Stars.
He added that our team is not good enough currently and so we need someone like Chris to build them up and make them competitive.
” Chris Hughton has the track record of picking a team from the lower-tier league in England and promoting them to the Premier League and that’s why I think he’s the best fit for the Black Stars job currently because our players are not good enough currently and we need someone to build them up.” He told Angel FM in Kumasi today.
What is your take on what Majority Leader is saying?
Do you think the government is interfering in the business of the GFA and so they should leave the FA to appoint their coach??
FA appoints their coach too, who will pay them?
