A barber arrested by the police in Asante-Bekwai for sodomizing a nine-year old boy has been ordered by a circuit court to serve a seven-year jail term.
Clinton Oppong, aged 19 years, was convicted and punished after he admitted the offence. He committed the crime at Asante-Bekwai.
He lives in the same house with the boy he sodomized.
He has used money to lure the victim into his room, where he forcibly sprayed pomade in the anus of the boy before inserting his penis and defiling him.
The boy after his traumatic ordeal went to inform another person, who told his (victim’s) mother about what her son had been taken through by the convict.
Police Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ofori told the Asante-Bekwai Circuit Court, presided over by Mark Tair-ima Diboro, that the incident happened on Saturday, January 8, 2022.
He said the nine-year old victim lives with his mother in the very same house where Oppong is staying with his sister.
Police Detective Chief Inspector Ofori said on the afternoon of January 8, the victim was playing in front of the house with his friends when Oppong called him under the pretext of sending the unsuspecting boy to buy something for him.
When he innocently went to collect money from him, Oppong lured him to his room, where he grabbed, sprayed pomade in the anus and sodomized him.
The victim told a friend of his mother about what he had been taken through, who in turn informed the mother.
A report was subsequently made to the police and Oppong was arrested. Police Detective Inspector Ofori said the convict during interrogation by investigators after his arrest confessed to the crime.
The prosecution added that medical doctors who examined the boy in their report confirmed that indeed, he had been sodomized.
