A controversial case of religious beliefs and professional practices collided when a nurse went the extra mile to share her beliefs of the Bible and the gospel of Jesus Christ with her patients.
In Africa it’s very common to see people seeking medical care from religious and spiritual praises. Spiritual leaders partake in vehement prayers on behalf of the sick at the hospital premise all the time and it’s not a problem for our continent. However, other continents and countries have a different way of approaching issues of health.
The Ghanaian nurse Sarah Kuteh was sacked from the Darent Valley Hospital after authorities found out about her extracurricular activities of sharing bibles and singing psalms to her patients.
She was relieved of her duties based on religious fervor. The Darent Valley Hospital believed that due to her intense beliefs she can cause harm to her patients and make some of her patients who have different religious beliefs very uncomfortable.Â
