The family of Joseph Entsie, a fifty-three-year-old taxi driver who died at a police cell in Takoradi are angry over a proposed second autopsy to be performed on his dead body. Joseph Enstie who is popularly known as Poppey was a taxi driver with the main Fijai Taxi station in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis.
He is said to have knocked down a police officer and that led to his arrest. Unfortunately for him, he died whilst at the police cells. The initial report from the police indicates that the driver hanged himself whilst at the police cell. The family of the deceased led by Kwame Appiah, went to the mortuary for a postmortem to be conducted on the body to ascertain the real cause of his death at the police cell.

It was the results of the postmortem that revealed that the driver did not die through hanging as revealed by the police initially. The situation has gotten the family members and the drivers at the taxi station angry. They believe that the police have not been truthful to them. As they are thinking about the next line of action, the Police who are also not satisfied with the initial autopsy report has called for another one to be conducted on the body.
The police believe that the second autopsy will settle the case for everyone to know whether the driver died through hanging whilst at the police cell or something else caused it. But the family of the late Joseph Entsie is refusing to corporate. A spokesperson for the family, Kwame Appiah told Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson in an interview on Connect FM’s Omanbapa morning show monitored by BeaNana that they will not participate in the second autopsy.
He indicates that the police are trying to discredit the first autopsy report and force them to accept another report which might produce opposite results. The family has resolved to move to court to stop the police from performing the second autopsy on the body.
Mr. Ahlortua, secretary of the Fijai Taxi drivers on his part indicated that they are at a loss on why the police are bent on performing another autopsy at all costs. He says, the drivers will support the family at every level of the fight and they will never allow the police to conduct any other autopsy apart from the first one. The police were contacted on the issue. They have promised to address the issue in due time for all the issues to be settled.
