If Government Insists On Passing The E-Levy, It Is Fine – Kwesi Pratt Boldly Declares

The conversation surrounding the infamous electronic transactions levy continues to trigger massive debate and tussle among Ghanaians. Many have opposed government’s efforts to pass the policy despite the numerous justifications E-levy as a means to create more jobs for the youths.

According to the Finance Minister, he is urging the youths of the country to throw their support behind the government in the implementation of the controversial E-levy bill as it purports to offer employment opportunities for the millions who are unable to find employment. However, the Minority Caucus in Parliament led by Haruna Iddrisu has reiterated its decision to reject the passage of the bill.

The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt has said that he has ended his rants on the E-levy due to the government’s insistence on passing it. He disclosed that, he is disappointed in the kind of comments and recommendations made by some lawmakers about the E-levy, indicating the extreme of all is an MP vowing that government goes to opposition because of the E-levy. He made this disclosure earlier today on Good Morning Africa show hosted by Kwame Owusu Danso.

According to Mr. Kwesi Pratt, he has no optimism in the myriad of promises government is making to justify the E-levy. He indicated that he has seen many policies that have failed to become realistic yet was cherished and chanted by the NPP government during the election period. He issued his final caution to government to avoid the E-levy as it would add to its already failed agenda.

He said, “I suggest parliamentarians do not use parliamentary procedures to pass the bill. It would be the extreme of the government’s failure. And if they insist on passing the E-levy, that’s fine. But we are all hear to witness how it fares.”
