Francis Xavier Sosu – Even If E-Levy Is Passed, It Will Only Lead To Another Shameful U-turn

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina, Lawyer Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu believe that even if E-Levy is passed, it will only lead to another shameful U-turn. He expressed doubt over it’s passage though and criticized the NPP government for always failing to embark on thorough consultations with stakeholders before implementing policies.

In a post shared on his Official Facebook Page on Wednesday, 26th January 2022, he wrote;

“Like E-Levy, this government has always failed and/or neglected to do thorough stakeholder engagements before implementation of major policies, hence the failure most of its policies.”

Honorable Francis Xavier said ; the major u-turns is a clear indication of unpreparedness and unplanned leadership. It shows high levels of inconsistency, lack of credibility and indecisiveness. Even if E-levy passes which I doubt, the widespread nationwide boycotts of Momo and E-transactions will only lead to another shameful u-turn.

In the post, Francis Xavier also showed a diagram of the major policies U-turn made by the Akufo-Addo-led government from 2017 to 2022. Among them include the ” No Ghana card no salary for public workers which was reversed , Semester Based Calendar for basic schools which was also reversed. Below is the diagram:

On the issue of E-Levy, introduced by the Finance Minister in the 2022 budget, parliament of Ghana is yet to approve or disapprove when they meet next Tuesday, 1st February 2022 as revealed by the Speaker of Parliament.
