I Wouldn’t Have Come To University If I Had Known This Is How New Students Are Treated – Young Man

Every university in Ghana had a variety of groups, and these groups frequently sought to draw a lot of fresh students to their membership. Some of these groups are scripture unions, personal groups, among others. Most new students at the university, on the other hand, feel stressed out as a result of their frequent visits to their dorms in an attempt to persuade them to join their group.

A young Ghanaian man, possibly between the ages of 19 and 23, has spoken out about the stress he faced as a first-year student at the University of Cape Coast. The young man stated that if he had known that this is how it is to be a new student at the university, he wouldn’t have bothered to attend. According to him, you will be in your room when three or four people will walk in and say, “We are from News G, we want to get to know our members, and you are welcome to the school.”

Following one group, another will arrive and give the same introduction and convey a similar message to persuade them to join theirs. He mentioned the Aposa group and PENSA, among others, but the most unpleasant group, in his opinion, is those that come to their rooms to sell panties, brassieres, and underwear. The young man added that these groups have really disturbed their peace because the moment you made up your mind to sleep, they will just walk in and disrupt your sleep.

As a result, he went to the hospital for treatment since the stress he was under was causing him headaches. The young man stated, “Just two weeks of being in school with this kind of stress is too much for me. If someone should have told me that this is how it is, I wouldn’t have come at all. Attending school at UCC is already stressful and these groups are also disturbing us with frequent visits. I might not return after vacation”.
