Death has once again stretched its ugly neck on the Asankragwa Nursing and midwifery training college. Two young students who have gone through the academic calendar with a few days to complete their educations have met their untimely deaths.
The students, who are two in number had gone to the Asankragwa Township in the Amenfi West District of the Western Region. After their normal errands, they decided to return to school and continue their education. For many years, Pragyia has been the main source of transportation in Asankragwa and its environs. Many residents who move within the community and its environs rely on pragyia as their main source of transportation.
The students whose names are still unknown arrived at the main station and joined a pragyia back to school. Whilst on their way, a trailer was also heading in the opposite direction. The trailer driver lost control whilst on top speed and crashed the pragyia transporting the nursing students. The trailer went ahead to crash another pragyia in the same lane. In all, six passengers were affected.

The two nursing students died on the spot with the rest sustaining various degrees of injuries. The lifeless bodies of the two nursing students have all been deposited at the Asankragwa Catholic Hospital Mortuary. A medical doctor at the facility, Emmanuel Ankam confirms that apart from the nursing students who are dead, four of the passengers are still receiving treatment. He says, the degree of injuries is very severe and will require thorough medical examinations to sustain them.
Kojo Sefa, survival in the accident narrates that the recklessness of the trailer driver caused the accident. When they got to the mountain close to the cemetery, the trailer came from nowhere and since they were all using a narrow road, the passengers in the pragyia became the victims.
The police have since reported to the accident scene to ascertain the real cause of the accident and investigations have begun. Meanwhile, students of the Asankragwa Midwifery and nursing training colleges are at a loss on how their mates died. They believe that the two students did not deserve such a painful death and as such, the trailer driver must be made to face the full rigors of the laws.
These are young students who were about to complete their many years of educations. They had returned from the Christmas break to continue their academic works but death has sadly ended everything they started. May their souls rest in peace.
