Black Stars Of Ghana Count On Best Third Place Team To Qualify From Nations Cup Group Stage

Despite poor showing at the ongoing Nations Cup in Cameroon, Black Stars of Ghana harbor complete intention of making it to the next stage. Milovan Rajevac and his charges are filled with a sense of optimism of making it out of the group and make an impact in the showpiece. Black Stars are entangled in a dire situation as they compete with Morocco and Gabon. 

Milovan Rajevac and his squad have managed a point after two matches in the group stage. Black Stars of Ghana lost to Morocco and split honors with Gabon. The usual expectations ahead of those games were comprehensive victory to make a statement of intent, as they aspire to leave Cameroon with the trophy. 

With the team scheduled for a final group game against Comoros, Black Stars have nothing left than to beat Comoros, pegged at four points and qualify through best third-place spot. Having failed to pick a win as at now, Black Stars of Ghana cannot flee from the option of best third-place as four teams will be advancing to the next stage courtesy that route. 

Milovan Rajevac and his lads ought to pluck three points as they come up against Comoros, while waiting for the outcome of the other group game. 

In a case of points sharing in the other match, Black Stars can only rely on best third place for advancement. This puts Black Stars in a tight corner where they must intensify performance in the last group game. Morocco lead Ghana’s group, that is, group C with six points. They worked assiduously to earn two victories by beating Black Stars of Ghana and Comoros. They sit comfortably at the summit, having a greater chance of adding up or getting a point in the final group game. 

Morocco will be playing Gabon in the last group game, as the latter follows the former with four points after two matches. Gabon had their way over Comoros and wrestled for a point against Ghana last Friday. 

Morocco-Gabon clash could go in either direction as the two teams can make headway with their points accumulated so far. Whereas group leaders Morocco appear favorite to carry the day, Gabon could pull a surprise by beating them. 

In a worst scenario, both teams stand a chance of splitting points to end the group stage with seven points and five points for Morocco and Gabon respectively.
