In a post released on Friday, January 14th 2022 by Mr. Kwasi Kwarteng the PRO of the Ministry of Education, he confirmed it.
“Double Track is not completely abolished. We have eliminated double entry of Form One and Form Two students.
What it means is that all Form One and Form Two students will go to school each as one cohort not divided into two. As more school buildings are completed entire school populations will report to school at the same time as one cohort as it pertains in Single Track schools.” He said.
The comments of Mr. Kwasi Kwarteng comes as a background to the 2022 academic calendar, released by the Ghana Education Service yesterday.
The calendar did not include the phrase “Double Track” in it. This made it unclear as to whether the double track system introduced in 2017 as a result of the Free SHS policy has been abolished.
The 2022 academic calendar indicates that the WASSCE examination will start August and ends in September. There was pressure mounting on MOE and GES to release a stable academic calendar. They have responded by releasing it.
