Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac has expressed worry about officiating in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. The Serbian tactician believes his side should have been awarded a penalty in the opening game against Morocco but Video Assistant Referee failed to check the incidents.
“Even per our judgement, we should have had a penalty in the first half when we played Morocco but VAR didn’t even bother to check and there were other decisions that are questions. But now that there is VAR so the number of mistakes should be less so we hope it will be less in the next matches of the competition.”
He hopes there will be steps to remedy the situation since it is becoming difficult for teams to thrive in the competition. There must be instant reactions about the performance of match officials.
Some coaches have shared similar concerns about the performance of referees in the tournament. Some referees have awarded questionable decisions in some matches. Those decisions have had an impact in the outcome of matches.

Skipper Dede Ayew got injured in the opening game but has been responding to treatment. Milovan Rajevac confirmed that but was did not indicate if the Al Sadd forward will start or not against Gabon tomorrow.
“He suffered a knock and was hurt and needed stitches and he is feeling okay now. About team selection, I don’t talk about selection before the match so let’s see what happens.”
