Time to have a serious Round Table Discussion on Ghana’s Education Sector

Let’s not pretend, Ghana’s education sector is in trouble. 

Can we as a nation, have a round table discussion on the country’s education sector. It seems to me, there’s so much not going right with the sector for a while now. 

Government, must have the courage to open a discussion on the way forward, particularly on the Free SHS policy and it challenges. There’s so much going on, that requires the nation to come together and agree on how best we can get everyone to help. 

We can no longer pretend and allow students who are left in school without food, Universities lecturers consistently shutting down, and learning materials not been made available even at the basic levels of our education. 

It’s obvious that, our students are the ones at the mercy of these disturbing developments. 

We can’t continue to act like Ostriches, and look on while political office holders pretend to be solving a problem they have obviously lost control over. Politicians and political party’s will come and go, but the future of this country depends on education, not just any form of education, but a good quality one that position our children against the future. 

government fails to admit to these challenges and call for the necessary support, which should be expected from political office holders, then the country must come to a position of conscience and forcefully demand for it. 

It’s not too much, if teacher unions, and all stakeholders make these appeal on government or call a nation wide industrial action to force government to the table on this matter. 

Your children, cousin, brother, sister, a relative is involved, and it’s time we speak up to avoid the visible chaos that will be too much to postpone for the future.
