A young boy has set himself on fire at Dompoase in the Ashanti region. According to the residents, the deceased is a mentally challenged boy who lives with his grandmother. Kwame Attah lives with his grandmother Aunty Adwoa in Dompoase. According to the grandmother, Kwame Attah recently beat up a child in the area mercilessly due to his condition.
The child was taken to the hospital and she decided to go and check up on the injured child in the hospital. Before she left, she locked up Kwame Attah in their room so that he would not get the opportunity to misbehave again. By the time she came back, the boy had set the room on fire and he had burnt to death.
One of the residents of the house, Dora lost all of her properties except some documents of hers which she had kept at a very safe place. The Dompoase NADMO Coordinator, Mr Oliver Acquah after inspecting the area reported that 2 rooms got burnt but the cause of the accident cannot be established yet. However, what is certain is that the fire started from the room where the mentally challenged boy had been kept.Â
