In Ghana, it’s as if every societal establishment divides us as a people and the only thing that unites the masses is football. Tribalism and ethnicity have caused great conflicts leading to many loss of lives. Religious conflicts have also caused serious harm between different sects and the worse of it all is Political violence, which has claimed many lives during elections.
Football brings the ultimate satisfaction and happiness to the Ghanaian and you dare not make a mess of it. Perform abysmally on the pitch and you shall incur the wrath of fans who sometimes react harshly. This sport also creates an avenue for the youth to exhibit their love for the country and patronize national team jerseys.
After Ghana’s loss to Morocco, many football enthusiasts complained about how poorly the players had been on the field of play. While some blamed the coach, others opined that it is solely the mistakes of the players who were not able to convert their chances into goals. Should the black stars fail to win the next game, Ghanaians would criticize them.
Twene Jonas, a social media activist has joined those lambasting the whole playing body and has used some unprintable words for the professionals. He indicated that the players have disappointed Ghanaians.Â
Upon all the fat appearance fees they couldn’t win and if they lose again, he will tell his friends to go after their girlfriends. In conclusion, he asserted “if you fail to bring the cup, don’t step foot here.”
