These Words From Ayew After The Ghana Morocco Game Is Worrying

The Black Stars of Ghana, yesterday 10 January had their first encounter with The Atlas Lions of Morocco in the 2022 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

The game though was very tough, the The Atlas Lions were able to give the Black Stars their first painful defeat after the match.

As usual, whether win or lose, the team captains need to say something to the press. The Captain of the Ghana Black Stars after the game; addressing the press made some very worrying remarks, that needs to be looked into.

Captain Andre Ayew, in an interview revealed to the world that, he wasn’t feeling well for the past two days before their first encounter in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, and that he played because his teammates needed him in the game.

According to the Black Stars captain, “I have not been feeling well for the past two days, I wanted to play, my colleagues wanted me on the pitch and I did everything because I have been waiting for this for three years now, we lost and I was unlucky to add a cut on my eye to it”.

Ayew added that, “We lost the first game in 2010, 2015 but we pulled through. We were not expecting this start but we will make it…I think we can get through and we will get through cos it is our duty and we will make sure we qualify to the next stage”.

The fact is, this was players typical response after losing a vital game. Andre Ayew and his team have just refuse to believe, that they just flat-out lost the game to Morocco. 

We as Ghanaians, and supporters of the Black Stars after hearing Ayew, know that the after-lost excuses from the Black Stars are hard luck stories players all over the world tell too often after losing a game. 

We know, that everybody goes into a game with just one aim… to win. Nobody likes to lose. However, if the game ends in a defeat, we must accept the defeat just as it is… because is is a big shame for the losing team to use all manner of excuses to justify their lost.

How on earth will a coach allow a player who is not feeling well to play in such a crucial game? Was Andre Ayew forced to play the match? What will be the difference if he had stayed off the game?

In my views, the excuses given us by the Black Stars captain and his team is very worrying and typical of of Players after losing a game.

With this embarrassing first defeat, how can the Black Stars make it out of the group stage?
