The sort of fear and reverence that Africans have for spiritual things is mind-boggling. Charm or “Juju” as it is mostly called in most African dialects, has the power to perform many wonders, and sometimes it is even believed to make a person rich. This makes one wonder: why then is there so much poverty in Africa if these superstitious beliefs can bring riches?
In the military, it is presumed that those who wear these “juju” amulets and rings are spiritually fortified, hence no amount of bullets can penetrate their bodies. They are also believed to possess the gift of fortune-telling hence they can foresee or sense danger ahead of any mission and inform their commanders. These individuals are often attached to the special operations team and assigned the role of grabbing the target.
As it did occur in Guinea over four months ago, the special forces team had within its ranks the guy who was deemed as the enchanter. Michel Lamah is the soldier believed to have spiritually fortified the team and this enabled them to capture the deposed President. As seen in the photo which emerged online, the soldier had tied around amulet around his head and neck with a large smoking pipe in his mouth.
At the back, was the ousted President sitting calmly in the vehicle which was transporting him to an unknown location. The bravery of these elite soldiers can’t be underrated ana d huge celebration was witnessed in the streets of Conakry. Hope was finally restored to the people.
Fast forward, the coup maker has deemed it fit to appreciate these loyal soldiers and Michel Lamah has also received his honor. In the ceremony which took place at the forecourt of the Palace, the soldier was decorated for his bravery and courage during the September 5th coup.
