Sleeping Mercedes driver crashes into wall at Ntensere near Kumasi Abuakwa

A Mercedes Benz driver had been taken to the Mount Sinai Hospital in Kumasi Abuakwa after she was involved in a deadly car accident at Ntensere, on the Kumasi to Tepa highway. The driver, yet to be identified, was confirmed to have slept on the wheels while navigating a curve.

A Hiace minibus driver, Yaw Sarpong, was following the Mercedes from Abuakwa when he sensed the car moving to the sideways at Abuakwa Presby junction. Yaw, according to him, horned several times at the driver before the car came back on the road at Abuakwa Presby Junction. 

From Abuakwa to Akromong junction and Nkawie junction, all was perfect as the driver kept her minimum speed. The car didn’t move out of the road again until we got to Ntensere where she lost the wheels and crashed into a wall, Yaw narrated to the Ntensere Police. 

The female driver of the Mercedes Benz SUV vehicle was sleeping when she got to the Ntensere R/C Basic School junction. The junction which is a curve, houses the Ntensere Roman Catholic Church mission house and the wall to the mission, was what the female driver crashed on the curve. 

Yaw Sarpong together with mass servants at the Roman Mission house, took the victim to Mount Sinai Hospital where the victim is receiving treatment. There was no casualty as the seatbelts and airbags of the vehicle saved the driver from critical injuries. 

There was a baby boy at the back of the car but he was unhurt and recorded no injuries. The boy, believe to be around 4 years, was strapped to a baby seat and that, saved him from any injuries, Yaw hinted. 

Ntensere Police are on the scene directing traffic whiles towing vehicles from Abuakwa is on their way to tow the SUV off the road. The accident which occurred around 8 this evening, has been ruled to have been caused by stress after the driver confessed to having driven from Cape Coast to Kumasi without resting.

The driver was on her way to Tepa from Cape Coast when she got into the accident. The family (husband) to the driver has been notified of the accident, Yaw Sarpong said. 

Drivers on the Kumasi to Tepa, Goaso and Sunyani road are advised to slow down when they get to the scenes of the accident to avoid another accident.
