Asor Rebecca, 31, has been denied bail after her family went to plead on her behalf after she was caught in possession of harmful drugs. The Oyoko family of Abosomtwi Agya in the Ahafo Ano North District of the Ashanti Region, had lined in front of the Tepa Police station pleading, but the District Police Commander of Tepa Police Command, Chief Superintendent Stephen Kwakye refused to hear their pleadings and denied bail to Asor.
This is beyond bail, and we will see to it she is presented in court tomorrow for his first hearing. If per the evidence submitted, the court grants her bail on medical grounds, so be it. Right now, she can’t be given bail, Supo Stephen Kwakye explained to the Oyoko family before dismissing them from the police station.
You are causing a scene here, it is not advisable so go home. She is not in bad hands but the hands of the police. She is in safe hands because we the police will make sure she is safe. The people she had offended could have beaten her, but here at the station, nobody can touch her so go home and rest, Supo ordered the Oyoko family before they all dispatched to their homes this afternoon.
Asor will be facing the Tepa district court on Monday for her crimes; in possession of harmful drugs and sale of harmful drugs to children. It is likely she will be remanded into police custody tomorrow morning.
Case Study
Asor on Sunday 9 January 2022, was seen at the Catholic Church in Abosomtwi Agya selling biscuits to children and toffees to some adults. The biscuit, dazed anyone who came into contact with it whiles the toffee was normal to the youth who purchased it.
The youth who purchased the toffee knew they were buying drugs made with weed while the children who bought the biscuit, thought it was normal cookies. Asor had no idea the biscuit was made of weed, she wouldn’t have sold them to the children, her sister said at the station.
Whiles the sister was trying to defend Asor, Asor herself had already confessed to the police that, she thought the children who were buying the biscuit were buying for their older brothers and sisters. I thought they were sent by their brothers. I had no knowledge they were buying to eat themselves, Asor said in an earlier statement.
The Oyoko family after realizing the complications between their defence for Asor and the confession of Asor, said Asor was a mentally challenged person. She is sick and hasn’t taken her drugs today, the family said in Asor’s defence after knowing she had already confessed to the police.
Officer Edward Mensah, the arresting officer who handcuffed Asor from the Catholic Church to the police station, questioned Asor’s sensor of reasoning when three children were rushed to the Tepa Hospital after all three had eaten the biscuit. What kind of human being are you. Don’t you have a heart? Why sell drugs to children? Officer Edward Mensah questioned Asor before taking her to the station at this afternoon.
A total of five children as of now, has been taken to the hospital after all five came into contact with Asor’s weed biscuits. All five children are doing well at the hospital, the police hinted.
Asor’s family had as of today, paid for only one child’s medical bills out of the total five children. They have not made any move to pay for the remaining four children and it is unclear whether they will pay or not.Â
