Egypt is the country with the highest number of AFCON trophies (7) and thus the most successful country. Host of the 2021 edition of the competition, Cameroon is the 2nd most successful country in the competition with 5 trophies in its name. One of the favourites to win the 2021 edition, Ghana comes in the 3rd place as the most successful country in the history of AFCON with 4 trophies.
Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria and DR Congo are the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th most successful countries when it comes to AFCON. Nigeria has 3 AFCON trophies while the remaining countries have 2 trophies each. Several countries also have a trophy each in their names. These countries include Zambia, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Morocco, South Africa and Congo.
