What Do You Need My BioData for Again? – Desmond Twumasi Ntow To Telcos

A former PNC Parliamentary candidate for the Akuapem North Constituency, Desmond Twumasi Ntow, has questioned the motives for the collection of the BioData of Ghanaians by Telcos with regards to the SIM cards re-registration exercise when already our BioData has been captured on the Ghana card.

Desmond Twumasi Ntow made this statement on ‘Good Morning Africa’ on Pan Africa television this morning, 7th December 2022, when he gave his opinion on the SIM cards re-registration exercise.

According to Desmond Twumasi Ntow, this re-registration of SIM cards is needless, and whoever sat down and came up with that idea is aptly useless because there is no logic behind it. It is just creating confusion here and there.

“We don’t need SIM cards re-registration as we sit here. Why can’t it be done digitally?” He stated.

Desmond Twumasi Ntow asked why we must waste fuel and our precious time to go out there and stand in long queues for about five hours and yet not be able to do these SIM card re-registration.

“What do you need my BioData for again? When you talk about BioData, is it not about fingerprints? How many times do you want to take my fingerprint?”

Desmond Twumasi Ntow indicated that what is happening now is that our data is being spread around and it’s not even secured, and all these are happening because of chop-chop.

“Ask yourselves which is in charge of this SIM cards re-registration? Is it the telcos themselves or it is a private ? If it is a private , what is their cut?”

Desmond Twumasi Ntow added that someone out there wants to benefit from this SIM card re-registration exercise which is why they are putting Ghanaians through these frustrations.
