The Doctor Told Us That My Sister-In-Law Is Dead But We Have Not Seen Her Body: Man Shares

A family from Upper Denkyira shares how the doctors told them that family member is dead but doesn’t want them to see her body. According to their narrations, his brother’s wife called Akua Akoma was sick for about one month. She went to Atasemanso hospital to seek treatment in Kumasi. She was admitted to the hospital for more than one month, after she was discharged, the woman was asked to pay an amount of GHC9,000 as her bills. The family were surprised because they are cocoa farmers who are not having such an amount of money.

They were able to get only GHC1,400 to pay some of the bills. They later sold their cocoa farm and was going to pay the rest of the bills but they received a call from one of their family members telling them that she received a call from the hospital that Akua Akoma was dead. They sent some of the family members to the hospital to confirm the death of the woman. When they got there the doctors told them that the body has been sent to the mortuary. The family members were a little bit confused then they asked the doctor to show them where the body was sent but he told the family that unless they pay the rest of the bills before he can show them where the body was sent to.

The family then went for the bills but instead of the GHC9,000, the bill has been increased to GHC20,000. They were baffled by what was happening but the family still insisted that they should be allow to see the dead body first but he didn’t let them see it. They came home and called the doctor again but he told them that unless they settle their bills. Now the family do not know whether it is true that the woman is dead or not. According to the reports from the hospital, Dr Ama Boateng who is the daughter of Dr Boateng has confirmed that the woman is dead.

She died on 2nd January, 2022 around 6:10 am but because none of the family members was there at that time, they took the initiative and sent the body to the mortuary. She continued that the woman came to the hospital with waist pains and high blood pressure. But they later found that she was having a problem with her thyroid. She was told to go lab before she can be treated but she told them to treat her waist pains and leave the thyroid problem.

She did not go to the lab but later told the doctor to discharge her because she was feeling well. The woman was given a bill of GHC6,987 to pay but they were able to pay only GHC1,400. She was then told that unless she pay the rest of the bills before she can leave the hospital. The next morning, she was found foaming in her mouth, they did CPR for more than an hour but she did not survive. The doctor also said that it is a law at their hospital that if a patient died and their family members do not settle the bills, they can not have access to the dead body.
