The President Nana Akuffo-Addo led NPP government has proven its commitment to revive the Railway Industry in Ghana to provide faster, cheaper and more convenient transportation of humans and goods therefore constructing several new Railway Lines across the length and breadth of the country.
Techiman Municipality the Bono East regional capital and commercial city of Northern sector is set to witness its first ever Railway Line under this project as the Central Spine Railway Line which will link Kumasi to Sunyani and Tamale will pass through some twenty two (22) other Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts within six (6) regions.
Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, MCE for Techiman who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent Nana Kwadwo Adu during the Assembly’s 3rd General Meeting to end the year 2021 revealed that Techiman North & South, Nkoranza North & South and Kintampo South districts were places in Bono East region this Railway Line will pass through and pursuance of this the Land Valuation Division of Ministry of Railway Development and the Consultant for the project (VEKSTRAT Company Ltd) have undertaken field inspection to pave way for commencement of work very soon.
Hon. Benjamin Gyarko continued that he aims at maximizing the Municipal Assembly’s Internally Generated Funds (IGF) therefore pragmatic measure have been put in place to monitor revenue collection from the Techiman Central market which is the largest food market in West African subregion and major source of Assembly’s IGF. Â
Finally, Hon. Benjamin Gyarko pledged to give Techiman a major facelift by the end of his tenure to befit the Bono East regional capital status therefore the citizenry should also play their parts to support the Municipal Assembly.
