The Northern Region is one of the sixteen regions of Ghana. It is located in the north of the country and was the largest of the sixteen regions, covering an area of 70,384 square kilometres or 31 percent of Ghana’s area until December 2018 when the Savannah Region and North East Region were created from it.

Sherifa Gunu
Sherifa Gunu was born into a royal family in the Kingdom of Dagbon in Ghana’s Northern Region. She dropped out of school early and went on to compete in regional and national dance contests.
Sherifa Gunu became the northern Regional dance champion and the first runner up in the 1998. She later participated in the 2003 Hiplife dance championship with the likes of King Ayisoba and Terry Bonchaka.
