The CCP workshop training for teachers was rescheduled to be implemented in the 2022/2023 academic year due to factors that were beyond the control of the GES.
However, current information gathered on Joy news on Wednesday 5th January 2022 at 3:00pm when Iyisha Ibrahim hosted Kwasi Kwarteng ( Spokesperson for Ministry of Education) , Franklin Cudjoe (President of IMANI Africa) and others has revealed that the Common Core Curriculum Workshop for Junior High School teachers will take place next week.
The various School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) and Headteachers are urged to inform all JHS teachers to hold themselves ready for the Workshop on the CCP from next week onwards.
Moreover, it was also revealed that the various District/Municipal Directors of Education will be meeting their Regional Directors of Education for further Directives before the workshop training Commences.
BACKGROUND
The Ghana Education Service (GES) in collaboration with the National Council for Curriculum Assessment (NaCCA) in 2021 scheduled a 5-Day non-residential training workshop for all JHS to SHS1 public school teachers in the country. The training workshop was later postponed due to factors that were best known to the GES.
The initial date that was slated by the GES for the nationwide programme was 11th to 15th January 2021 but was postponed as initially stated. It was a non-residential 5-Day workshop with a daily sitting allowance and T&T allowance.
It should also be noted that the CPPD for KG and primary schools was been successfully implemented in September 2019, after a one week intensive training and workshop for teachers in Ghana.
