Fire guts Delta College of Education

The Works Department building on Campus 1 of the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar, has had a portion of its structure completely destroyed by fire.

Witnesses claimed that unlawful bush burning by unidentified residents of the area is what started the fire that broke out on Christmas Day.

According to reports, the fire destroyed significant amounts of the college’s grassland, seriously damaged a piece of the Works Department building, and entirely burned two automobiles that were parked outside.

PUNCH According to Metro, it took the combined efforts of the college’s personnel and security officials, as well as kind-hearted neighbors and firefighters, to put out the roaring inferno.

Only last week, a comparable occurrence took place at the institution, where a portion of the building housing the School of Vocational Education caught fire.

Concerned by the unpleasant episode, the college administration issued a circular prohibiting bush burning and unlicensed cultivation within and around the college grounds in an effort to stop the terrible conduct.

In a statement, the public relations officer, Mr. Simon Fole, thanked the state government for continuing to support higher education while begging for greater help with rebuilding the burned-out buildings and replacing the destroyed utility vehicles.
