170 Doctors Left Kwara State Within 3 Months; No More Patriotism Again—Kwara Governor Laments

The Governor of Kwara State, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, had lamented on the rate at which medical doctors and midwives are leaving the state for greener pastures elsewhere.

Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq noted that the issue of patriotism has gone off the rails and revealed that in the last three months, no fewer than 170 professional medical doctors left the Kwara civil service, and many of them moved to the Federal medical institution and teaching hospital.

He indicated that Kwara State is not the only state in Nigeria losing doctors, as many also left some other states to travel out of the country, as many of those who are still around stayed due to family ties, and noted this to be a huge brain drain.

The governor made this statement while speaking during the commissioning of an ultra-modern medical center built by the indigenous association, the Offa Metropolitan Club (OMC), in the State General Hospital, Offa, Kwara State, as he noted that the issue of healthcare is not something the government alone can manage.
