Chelsea failed to secure an addition to the right back area of the team in the last transfer window and this decision has seen the team suffer in parts of matches this season.
According to sources close to the club, the decision not to buy a right back was because of the contract extension of captain, Caesar Azpilicueta but this has not gone down well.
Now, club sources have indicated that Chelsea will be in the market coming January to look for potential backup options for Reece James. The players that have been highlighted include Inter Milan’s Dumfries, Southampton’s Kyle Walker Peters and Bayern Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.
Chelsea will be ready to spend a figure close to 30 million euros should clubs be willing to listen to offers. However, other sources have also indicated that the club is currently analyzing the option to activate the buy back clause in Tino Livramento’s contract at Southampton. Â
