Release Kanu For Treatment, Lawyer tells DSS.The legal team of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has demanded his immediate unconditional release from custody of the Department of State Services to enable him access medical personnel of his choice.

Kanu’s lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, made the demand in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

Ejiofor said his client had been in excruciating pains and had not been able to eat for 48 days due to some gastrointestinal disorder.

A group, Nigeria Intellectuals for Tinubu/Shettima, has said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, should not be linked to the “perceived failure” of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.).

The Lagos State Coordinator of the group, Mr Emmanuel Omuwo, said this while reacting to the claim by the Middle Belt Forum that Nigeria had become worse since the President took over.

But Omuwo said Tinubu was not a part of the current regime and should not be dragged into the running of the government.

The Spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council, Charles Aniagwu, has described calls for the removal of the national chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, as ill-timed.

Aniagwu, who spoke on, “Good Morning Nigeria,” a Nigerian Television Authority Network programme on Friday, said those calling for Ayu’s removal citing equity and justice were not incorrect, however, he pleaded with them to look at the bigger picture because of the proximity to the 2023 general elections.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has filed an appeal challenging the ruling of Justice Polycarp Hamman of the National Industrial Court Abuja which ordered the lecturers to call off their seven-month-old strike and return to the classrooms.

Counsel for ASUU, Femi Falana, SAN, based their appeal on 14 grounds.

The appeal which Falana made available to Saturday PUNCH was also accompanied by a request for a stay of execution on the ruling by Justice Hamman.
