A middle-aged father named Kwadwo Fordjour who dated his ex-girlfriend called Abena 12 years ago tells his side of the story on why he made a decision not to cater for his only child after they broke up. According to the man, they spent a joyful moment together when they were dating. A year after they gave birth, his girlfriend got a job to support him financially. It got to a point where she started coming back home late at night.
He suspected her of meeting another man but she always denied it. One day his friend informed him that he seen his ex-girlfriend going out with a different man. He confronted Abena about these accusations but she denied them. He followed her one evening when she went out with her sister, truly he caught the lady embracing a taxi driver in a market. What he found on that day made him believed all those rumours.
He had a fight with her concerning this issue and they couldn’t resolve their problems they were facing in the relationship so they got separated. After they break up, he managed to take care of his son but his ex-girlfriend doesn’t appreciate any money he gives to her to provide for the basic needs of their child.
He even explains to her that he doesn’t earn much from the steel bending work he has does that’s why he don’t provide the amount of money she expected from him. Aside from this problem, her ex-girlfriend didn’t give him the chance to stay with his child whilst he provides whatever the kid need.
Fordjour said he is aware that the young boy is his only child but still decided not to take care of the child unless she summoned him to court so that he will have a witness before he will perform his duties. The man added that he is staying with another woman who has a child but has been catering for his stepchild because he ran errands for him at any time he wants unlike his son.
