Former President John Mahama posted on his heavily followed social media platform a picture of former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe.
Shinzo Abe is Japan’s Longest-serving Prime Minister. He was a serving member of the House of Representatives and was assassinated on 8th July 2022 while speaking at a political event outside Yamato-Saidaiji Station in Nara City, Nara Prefecture, Japan.
Why was Shinzo Abe shot? According to Reuters, “the shooter blamed the unification church for his mother’s financial problems, fuelling a grudge against Abe, whom he associated with the church”.
The Police say, the shooter is Tetsuya Yamagami, a 41-year-old Nara resident, who was apprehended moments after the shooting. The Police say he confessed that he had intended to kill Mr Abe.
Shinzo Abe attended Seikei University, Seikei Elementary school, University of Southern California and Seikei Junior and Senior high schools.
Sorrow and grief descended on Japan after Shinzo Abe was shot dead and it was only the right thing for former president John Mahama to post his picture and wish the statesman a farewell.
Many Ghanaians have reacted vehemently to the post and have sent in their good wishes. May Shinzo Abe rest in perfect peace.
