Host of Newsfile show on Joy News, Samson Lardy has sent another message to Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, auditor general of Ghana.
Speaking on Joy News this morning, Samson Lardy made it clear to the auditor general that he should not just report the ‘rot’ in the public sector financial records but he should make sure he finds ways to collect the stolen monies. Samson Lardy added that the country will continue to seek the help of IMF and other international financial institutions if the right step is not taken by the auditor general immediately.
According to him, over 17 billion cedis have been reported to have gone missing in the public funds. Samson Lardy believes that when the auditor general reports this news without any plan to get the monies back, then the report won’t be of essence to the Ghanaian public. He later urged him to do the needful immediately and collect the stolen monies.
“The Auditor General’s annual report shows that 17 billion cedis in his 2021 report. But why is he not issuing disallowances and surcharges for whatever is recoverable from the total of 65 billion cedis from his report from 2016. Who are the people tried or standing trial in court for stealing the poor tax payer’s money since he started issuing report in this republic.”
“Dear auditor general, don’t just report the rot, collect the stolen money. People stealing and misapplying public funds must feel that there are consequences for such conducts until then, Ghana will continue to go abroad and ask IMF for some 16 billion cedis” he said.
