After losing the 2016 elections, John Mahama requested that he keeps the official vice President accommodation as his ex-gratia accommodation and office.Â
Ghanaians didn’t take kindly to that and objected to this request from the former President.Â
The government then suggested that the drama and total rejection that have greeted the request is worrying so new arrangements be made for new accommodation and office for him.Â
Unhappy with the turn of events, he wrote a letter to the President withdrawing his request for accommodation and office. He said he didn’t want it anymore. So we all moved on. After all, former President Kufour didn’t get his. In a small office that he was given, the NDC organized a core group to demonstrate against it.Â
He tried taking advantage of ex-gratia discussions as he did with the allowances paid to first ladies.Â
This time around, he has met with a response from Abronye. He accused John Mahama of raking in over GHC 14 million as ex-gratia and other benefits that come with the office of former President.Â
John Mahama in an attempt to respond to this called the NDC-affiliated TV station, TV3, and told the world what this government is supposed to do for him which hasn’t been done.Â
Aside from telling lies about deporting some 5000 Chinese, he lied that he pays for his domestic staff pays his electricity and water, and even pays for his air tickets which are supposed to be funded by the state.
