1,443 Ghanaians died in road accidents from January to July 2022

The National Road Safety Commission has presented statistics for road accidents that occured between January and July 2022.

Here are the notable figures:

1. About 1,443 people died in road accidents in the first six months of this year.

2. There were 8,869 road accidents.

3. About 15,239 vehicles were involved in the crashes.

4. This figures, although staggering, are less than what was recorded this time last year. It represents a 6.84% reduction.

Presenting the data, Acting Director General of the National Road Safety Commission, David Osafo Adonteng, indicated that his outfit has put several measures in place in the bid to reduce the incidence of road accidents.

He has hinted that the Commission’s vision is to reduce road accidents by about 30%. They have now achieved 6% in the first six months of year.

Road accidents is one of the major causes of deaths in Ghana. Several factors account for road accidents, reckless driving and poor roads.
