The ‘Cry’ From The Flagstaff House, Ghana’s Seat Of Government

Formerly known as the Flagstaff House; the Golden Jubilee House, or Jubilee House, is the presidential palace in Accra (Seat of Government); built to serves as a residence and office to the President of Ghana.

Located in the Greater Accra Region, the Jubilee House was built on the site of a building that, was constructed and used for administrative purposes by the British Gold Coast Government.

Previously, Ghana’s seat of government was the Osu Castle, until Former President John Kufour re-constructed and inaugurated the Flagstaff House, and renamed it Golden Jubilee House in November 2008.

The name was later changed from the Golden Jubilee House to its old name Flagstaff House, by the late President John Evans Atta Mills-led administration. It remained Flagstaff House, until the current president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his government, in March 2018 changed it back to Golden Jubilee House in March 2018.

Till today, the Golden Jubilee House in Accra, has been serving as a the official residence and office to the President of the Republic of Ghana; and currently been occupied by the Nana Addo-led New Patriotic Party-NPP government.

Ghana’s seat of government, which was built and meant to house great, quality and successful leaders; who’s main aim is to develop the nation, and create great living conditions for its citizens, is today being occupied by a ‘group of real failures’.

Great and successful leaders as we know are those type of leaders in government; who leads a country; and ensuring developments, citizen participation, equity, better living conditions, jobs, and inclusiveness.

Every nation need leaders who will ensure rule of law, separation of powers, free, independent, and responsible media; government legitimacy, accountability, and transparency.

Many of these qualities were exhibited by His excellency Former President John Kufour and his government; who re-constructed and inaugurated the Flagstaff House, and renamed it Golden Jubilee House.

These great leadership qualities were again witnessed, in the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) governments; led by the late President John Evans Atta Mills; and Former President John Dramani Mahama.

No wonder under these successful previous governments, Ghana saw better economy, numerous infrastructure developments, many social intervention programmes, better living conditions, jobs, etc.

Today; as we can see and feel for ourselves as a nation, that Ghana’s seat of government (The Golden Jubilee House), is ‘crying and fighting for survival’, as the presidency has been filled with people who have continuously denied the people any development and better living condition.

The point is, when the the wrong people occupies the presidency, the nation automatically fails.

Today; Ghana Seat of government is ‘fighting for survival, because it has failed to function; leading to great challenges in the economy and high cost of living in the country.
