Earlier today, the leadership of minority got exasperated after several hours of waiting for the Finance Minister to present to the house, the Mid Year 2022 Budget Review. The Minority communicated to Ghanaians that the main reason why the Finance Minister was delaying was because, the government was planning on how to “beg” for more revenues.
To the dismay of the Minority caucus, the Finance Minister has announced otherwise. Speaking at Parliament today, the Finance Minister has revealed and admitted that, the government was unable to meet their revenue targets from the budget they presented last year. He added however that government will be committed to its appropriation and earlier planned projects.
Ken Ofori Atta later dropped the bombshell that the government will not beg for any new revenue. According to him, they will rather rely on the windfalls they got from the oilfields to finance the budget.
This has gotten Ghanaians to massively react.
