Things Falling Apart: New Stories About To Begin In The NPP After The Executive Elections

Things some how; have started falling apart in the NPP, after the just ended election of the party’s new national leaders, as one of the members of the party, has voiced-out his bitterness after the elections.

The leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), after their Annual National Delegate Conference 2022, has served notice; that it will be embarking on a reconciliation tour across all polling stations, constituencies and regional offices in the country, to settle internal conflicts, that were generated before, during and after the National Executive elections.

The party, during the weekend, successfully elected its new National Executives, at the party’s Annual National Delegate Conference 2022.

The Annual Delegates conference, which started from Friday 15 July, to Sunday 17 July 2022, saw about Six thousand delegates, converging at the Accra Sports Stadium, to elect new national leaders; who will be stirring the affairs of the party, towards the 2024 ‘Agenda Breaking The 8’.

After the three-day conference, Mr. Stephen Ntim was elected the NPP’s National Chairman; whiles Mr. Danquah Smith Buttey, also wining the First Vice Chairman position. Madam Rita Asobayire and Alhaji Masawudu Osman, also won the Second and Third Vice Chairman positions respectively.

The election also saw Mr. Justin Frimpong Koduah (the Chief Executive Officer, of the Youth Employment Agency), polling 2,857 votes against Mr. John Buadu (the incumbent current General Secretary of the party), 2,524 votes to win the General Secretary position. The National Organizer position also went to Mr. Henry Nana Boakye (the current Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, in charge of Operations and Programmes).

Whiles these victories have become great joy to some members of the party, others have also become very bitter; especially to the election of Mr. Henry Nana Boakye as the NPP’s National Organizer.

One of the top Members of the NPP, who was not happy with the election of Henry Nana Boakye as the NPP’s National Organizer, is Mr. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover.

Titus Glover; who also contested the National Organizer position (and lost), said he cannot work with Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana B; and that, he (Titus Glover), will turn down any offer from Nana B.

Speaking in an interview on Oman FM in Accra, Mr. Glover said; “Nobody should underrate me. I can’t work under Nana B; sorry, I cannot. I am a party member [and will always be available to work for it]”.

Mr. Glover, who is also a former Member of Parliament for Tema East, added that, even though he can not work under Nana B, he will continue to work for the NPP as a committed party member.

The ruling New Patriotic Party-NPP, at this stage is losing grip, and if steps are not taking to reconcile the party properly, it will surely be heading towards ‘Agenda breaking the Party into pieces’; and all efforts to ‘break the 8’, come December 2024, will be in vain.
